I started my account originally as a spot for new moms to come together. It organically morphed into an account centered around home design and renovations after my husband and I bought our dream fixer-upper about three years ago. We share the ups and downs of buying a run-down house with good bones, all while balancing a full home renovation with two little kiddos.
Our whole house needed to be updated or remodeled from top to bottom, and three years later, it’s still a work in progress! Currently, we’re working on the kitchen, and it’s been challenging to decide what we want the heart of our home to feel like. Eventually, we’ll move onto our upstairs bathrooms, and because they’re small and need to be reconfigured, they’ll most likely be the most challenging to make the most of the space.
We have two French doors that lead out to our backyard from our main level, and they’re a huge focus, so I knew I wanted something dramatic and beautiful. I loved the rounded knobs and the sleek look of the Keep Collection from Ageless Iron Hardware. We get so many compliments on them.
Of course! Installation was easy and only took us one afternoon. The hardware is absolutely stunning. If you’re thinking about changing your hardware, go for it! It didn’t take long to switch out and makes a massive impact.
Modern with a splash of vintage. I love a classic design, but I always want my spaces to feel cozy, like a warm hug. I look to add textures, unique pieces, and warmth to our home with lamps and mood lighting.
We found a house in a neighborhood we loved. Although it had been a rundown rental for years, it checked off many of our boxes regarding space, yard, and privacy, so it was well worth the long-term renovation.
When it comes to large remodels, take your time and be patient with it (and yourselves). As far as small updates, I say, go for it! Your home is where you spend most of your time and should be a space you absolutely love.
We have at least another year and a half to finish up our home. Next is spring planting, landscaping the yard, and finishing our kitchen.
Thank you, Stevie for some peeks of your home!
